The Actuarial Assistant provides actuarial analysis and technical skills in support of fulfilling the strategic objectives for the Actuarial Department. They contribute to the management and financial success of annuity and retirement products by developing actuarial models, model testing, and performing special projects. The ideal candidate must possess strong programming, financial and analytical skills and be able to successfully work with other functions within the actuarial department, including Pricing, Planning, STAT and ERM Departments in support of a variety of actuarial initiatives.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
· Candidates with at least one SOA exams will be considered, VEE credits a plus
· Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries administered exams or exam credit
· Two years of actuarial experience preferred but not required
· Strong computer skills including Excel and actuarial software
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
· Strong initiative and ability to work independently
Preferred requirements:
· Annuity and life insurance experience preferred
· Experience with Prophet modeling software preferred
· Strong programming / scripting skills including VBA, SQL, or Python preferred
