Actuarial Consultant - Health - 9612
Description
Client's revenue grew by 45% in last fiscal year and now seeking qualified actuaries to help support the recent and future growth. This role is NOT fully remote, must be able to work in a hybrid environment and going into office 2-3 days a week.
Duties:
Performs, with the assistance of other actuarial team members and core service team members, all financial & actuarial workstreams for clients. Financial & actuarial workstreams include, but not limited to:
Financial modeling for employer group health plans including pricing and rate setting, contribution and plan design modeling, benchmarking, and risk management/stop loss strategies
Ongoing claims tracking and monitoring
Preparation of IBNR reserve calculations
Assistance with funding analyses, demographic analyses, strategic financials, experience reporting, and any other ad hoc financial and/or actuarial modeling needs
Supports new business pursuits
Assists with internal initiatives, such as tool development and internal process improvement
Potential for future people management responsibilities (but not necessary)
Requirements:
ASA/FSA desigation preferred, but open to candidates nearing ASA designation as well.
Ideally, but not necessarily, 5+ years of experience with the following workstreams:
Annual forecasting of health care claims costs
Calculation of incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserves
Financial evaluation of carrier RFPs on behalf of employers
Able to work and communicate effectively as part of a team
Comfort with a client facing role
Excellent quantitative, problem-solving, interpersonal, and delegation skills
Passionate about concise, effective communication of complex calculations as much as the calculations themselves. It is critical to be able to communicate across all mediums (verbal, written, virtual, etc.)
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and hit internal and external deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of SQL, PowerBI is an asset, but not a requirement
