AVP or Actuarial Services (P&C) - Remote - 9996
Description
Insurance company in the Southeast US has a need for an AVP of Actuarial Services. The incumbent will provide oversight and direction to the Actuarial Department. The role will entail lead ratemaking and rate filing processes for all insurance product lines, actuarial reserving and responsibility for all actuarial analyses requested by management as well as internal and external affiliates. This role will oversee a practice of 4 Actuaries.
Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise Actuarial department; check and review work; project management; provide direction to team
Developing and implementing department strategies
Preparing rules and rate manuals
Overseeing all rate filing and pricing projects
Managing all workload including data requirements, ratemaking, rate filings, product development and reserving analyses
Interacting as needed with regulatory authorities on filings and testifying as required in support of rate filings
Leading the review of new product strategies, design, pricing and implementation of rate changes
Leading all aspects of the reserving processes (data prep, claims monitoring, IBNR allocation, presenting to Sr. Management)
Developing new reserving tools and improvements to existing reserving methodologies
Working with cross functional departments regarding reserving, accounting and forecasting issues
Overseeing all Actuarial work necessary to assist in the completion of the Statement of Actuarial Opinion and in support of external audits
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and assurance of timely submission of Statement of Actuarial Opinion, reserving policy, etc..
Requirements:
12+ years of Actuarial experience
ACAS or FCAS designation
Strong understanding of personal lines property and home business (including claims practice, pricing, regulatory issues)
2-5 years of management/leadership experience within a property and casualty actuarial capacity
Proficiency with SAS, SQL, REsQ is preferred
Ability to lead a team of independent contributors and to collaborate and influence in a team-based environment
