Insurance company in the Midwest has a need for a Data & Analytics Manager. The incumbent leads a team of data and analytics resources which primarily supports Personal Lines Actuarial and Product departments. The team works very closely with the Reporting and Modeling teams within the PL D&A group to meet their data needs. The role is responsible for designing, building and maintaining curated data that supports accomplishing organizational goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of data analytics professionals to serve as data and reporting resources for multiple lines of business.
Design, build and maintain curated datasets used by Product, Pricing, Reporting, Modeling and other D&A teams.
Design, build and maintain Python raters used by Product and Pricing. Build datasets from results for use by Pricing and Modeling.
Use Python and SQL along with job scheduling and code versioning applications in order to automate and build processes for data curation and rerating.
Work directly with Product and Pricing leaders to develop solutions to their data needs and help them accomplish their strategic goals through data.
Develop creative solutions to unique data problems. Must be able to clearly communicate internally and externally the problem and solution.
Partner with Strategic Initiatives and IT to improve, fix and clean-up outstanding data issues and be the bridge between IT and the customer.
Work with Strategic Initiatives and IT to architect data solutions in source systems (i.e. PolicyCenter and BillingCenter).
Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other related technical field and/or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree preferable.
10+ years’ experience in the financial industry with data science, data mapping, integration, database design and analytical reporting required.
Experience in the P&C Insurance industry strongly preferred.
5+ years in a leadership capacity preferred.
Knowledge of Python, SQL, AWS, job scheduling and code versioning required; solid overall programming skills
