Director, Actuarial Modeling - Life - Remote 9661
Description
Insurance company in the Midwest has a need for a Director for Actuarial Modeling in the Corporate Actuarial department. This position will have a strong actuarial modeling and IT skill set and primarily be an individual contributor. This detail-oriented, results-driven individual will have advanced knowledge of industry modeling software and be the actuarial modeling software liaison for the actuarial and IT teams. This position is essential for the company's management of risk and to assure model performance and will be a stakeholder in a large modernization project. This position is expected to provide actionable information that enables good business decisions and is accountable for project initiatives and business processes.
Responsibilities:
Lead the liaison role between actuarial modeling and IT, including being a stakeholder on the current Finance Transformation project
Understand and calibrate the actuarial modeling software and corresponding IT architecture and data-related interdependencies
Provide insight and analysis regarding technology and data trends
Understand and adhere to model risk management and data governance policies/procedures
Provide support for daily actuarial modeling environment and operations
Build and cultivate internal and external relationships to promote and grow the business
Accountability for business plans while focusing on results and measurements
Direct and influence associate and business resources to achieve business results
Monitor the external markets to ensure industry best practices
Provide oversight on stress testing and scenario analysis
Consult and represent company to external stakeholders
Design, test and maintain actuarial models for the specified actuarial purpose
Training and developing team members
Develop partnerships within the organization to engage in cross-functional business initiatives
Support records retention policies and initiatives
Qualifications:
ASA or FSA
7-10+ years of actuarial experience, including at least 2-4 years in a formal modeling or control-based environment
Prophet software knowledge strongly preferred
4+ years of leadership experience
Knowledge of life, annuity, disability income and/or retirement plans products
Knowledge/experience/understanding related to IT data and/or architecture preferred
Project management experience with the ability to multi-task and switch back and forth between projects
