West Region client looking for a Health and Benefits Consultant who can develop and manage client relationships in a primary role. This position may be located in the Northern California or Southern California office. Individual will step into a multi-faceted role that offers the opportunity to have a significant and positive impact on the continued growth of the Health & Welfare benefits consulting business.
Will lead client teams and play a proactive role in mentoring and developing staff, contributing to the overall intellectual and professional development within the teams.
The role will include client management, project management and new business development. Role will have the primary relationship accountability for assigned clients, overall servicing responsibility, and client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as lead representative, including but not limited to: meeting with clients, manage client financial performance, collaborate with other professional service providers, communicate with client teams on projects, managing projects and new business development
Establish rapport and build effective working relationships within client organizations
Understand client issues, anticipate client needs, and navigate various potential solutions
Provide high level of creative, innovative and strategic expertise to clients and colleagues around the myriad of issues and emerging developments in the employee health benefits industry
Lead and/or participate in new business development initiatives targeting existing and prospective clients in the Public Sector and Multi-Employer markets
Participate in training and professional development to further knowledge in this position
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of experience within an employee benefits consulting and/or related professional services environment involving exposure to health plan strategies, concepts/approaches, design and implementation in the multi-employer and/or public sector environment
Ability to step immediately into a direct client contact role and to work collaboratively with a diverse audience of colleagues and clients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts, attend new business presentations and effectively interact with clients and staff
Deliver/present complex information into actionable terms that clients will grasp and be able to act upon
Ability to analyze and identify issues to develop solutions
Strong understanding of financial reports, renewal calculations, annual projections, etc., and ability to conduct a high level review with a sense of reasonableness
Demonstrated success as a relationship builder/collaborator
Demonstrated success managing client relationships and responsibility for increasing revenue and maintaining profitability of practice
Actuarial credential(s) a plus
