Client looking to add a health actuary at the Senior Actuarial Analyst level. This position will provide data/analytic expertise to support actuarial services including financial reporting, trend analysis, utilization studies, rate development and claims liability estimates. Work will be in and around the commercial side as well as mainly on the large group side (101+ employees). Will have interaction with sales/underwriting and account management.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have 3+ years of healthcare actuarial experience along with having at least 4 exams passed.
Acquired an understanding of actuarial concepts and insurance knowledge.
• Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses to assist in the development of complex actuarial formulations leading to the recommendation of pricing strategies and loss reserving.
• Provides consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues.
• Identifies new methodologies and trends in actuarial functions and their application.
• Maintains documentation of actuarial analyses, and may assist in preparing the actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns, and responses to insurance regulations.
Participates in the projection and analysis of product profitability.
Near ASA or ASA a plus.
Knowledge of health care industry dynamics and trends preferred.
SAS or SQL experience also a plus.
