Sr. Health Actuarial Consultant-REMOTE-9372
Description
Client seeking a Senior Health and Benefits Actuarial Consultant for California/West Coast practice.
Duties:
Work with lead consultant to manage all aspects of client deliverables and meeting items.
Monitor and respond to client emails/calls in a timely fashion.
Position will grow into becoming lead consultant for clients in the short to mid-term period, depending on the strength of the candidate.
Will work on projections, benefit rates, plan contributions, compliance, plan communications, cost containment strategies.
Project Management: Manage client teams, including: Work closely with lead consultant to determine and execute client’s strategic goals
Will also work on financial position/utilization reports, Annual reports (including in-depth review of prior year’s experience), Projections, Rates (full premium equivalent rates and contribution rates), Plan communications, ASC 965 (retiree medical) valuations (work with pension actuaries), IBNR calculations, Medicare Part D (RDS) attestations, Renewal assessments from vendors.
Develop and analyze RFPs from vendors. Participate in negotiations/bargaining. Work with Plan Professionals to ensure compliance with new regulations
As a senior member of the H&W practice, promote practice-wide goals and provide mentorship and professional growth and development to Analysts and other Associates
Qualifications:
Prefer credentialed actuary, and would like a focus on completing credentialing requirements if needed
8+ years of health and welfare consulting experience.
Strongly prefer experience with multiemployer health plans, negotiation support, and/or work with bargained health plans
