VP/Enrolled Actuary - Pension - Hybrid - 9846
Description
Financial Services firm looking to add an Enrolled Actuary to their growing practice. Great opportunity for a Pension Actuary who's looking to get exposure to areas outside of just traditional DB. This role will also provide exposure to Pension Risk Transfer, ALM and investment type work as well.
Will be lead actuary in performing valuation and accounting calculations for assigned Defined Benefit clients, manage personnel of the Actuarial Consulting Services Department, while accomplishing actuarial valuations, cost calculations, government reports for assigned pension plans, perform pension risk transfer (PRT) pricing, manage relationships with placement consultants, and coordinate with the appropriate Field Consulting Services personnel to provide consulting services to sponsors of assigned pension plans.
Responsibilities:
Review DB Plan actuarial valuations, cost proposals, auditors’ letters, Form 5500 Schedules SB, PBGC premium filings, Annual Funding Notices, ASOP-51 Reports and AFTAP certifications required by ERISA for assigned cases
Review and furnish information to clients required by general accounting standards ASC-715-30
Oversee Defined Benefit plan workflow for timely production and release of all valuations, ASC-715, Schedules SB, AFTAP Certifications, etc.
Review actuarial assumptions, methods, and formulas to be used in valuations and proposals.
Direct studies to be made on alternative assumptions and methods based on data and outside sources
Perform and lead PRT case level pricing from including responding to RFPs and installation management
Respond to questions and requests from Regional Office Personnel, auditors, and clients as necessary
Review plan termination costing, perform special projects and studies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, mathematics major or strong mathematical background
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a practicing Enrolled Actuary (EA) consulting with clients
Must have the ability to analyze and make recommendations on actuarial and other Departmental matters and supervise and evaluate the work of others
Must have extensive knowledge of pension regulations (IRS, PBGC) and General Accounting Standards (ASC-715)
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experienced in the use and creation of Excel spreadsheets. Familiarity with ProVal actuarial software a plus
Preferred Qualifications, but not required:
Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
Non-Profit Consulting and Pension Risk Transfer experience a plus
